The verdict is in, Kris Bryant lost his appeal with the MLB over service time and his eligibility to become a free agent. If Bryant would have won he would have been a free agent at the end of the 2020 season. Due to the fact that Bryant lost this the Chicago Cubs have the rights to him for the next two seasons. According to ESPN radio 1000 Chicago Bryant has already voice disdain towards the Cubs organization stating that “They flat out lied” and he feels “unwanted” a long way from where they were in 2016. Recent trade rumors has surfaced due to the bigger packages the Cubs should be able to get because of the extra year on his contract. Most signs point toward Colorado Rockies 3rd basemen Nolan Arenado who is under contract but can opt out in two years as well. It’s uncertain what will happen, I just hope if they do trade Bryant they get someone back who can help the team win now and not two or three years down the road.
