Defense Wins Championships… Or Does It ?

The old cliche is Defense wins championships, but will that be the case this Sunday ? The San Fransisco 49ers are coming off a season where they were second in the league in yards allowed. They are a dominent defense that is sound on three levels. Nick Bosa leads the way for the defensive, backed up by kwon Alexander in the middle at linebacker and Richard Sherman locking down his side of the field at cornerback. The 49ers have more than just role players surrounding those stars as well so a spark can come from anywhere for them. If you factor in the 49ers excellent running game it sounds like the perfect game-plan to win the big game.

Not so fast…

The Kansas City Chiefs offense is coming in hot ! Patrick Mahomes will lead his team into Miami on Sunday and look to win his first career Super Bowl appearance. The Chiefs have a stable of weapons starting with All pro tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce is one the NFL’s top pass catchers and is a load to take down when he has the ball. With his mix of hight, speed and pass catching ability, I like him as a potential MVP performer when the clock hits zero. If Kelce draws attention over the middle it should open up the deep route for their speedster Tyreek Hill. Tyreek Hill is an absolute Game Wrecker and if he can put his stamp on this game I don’t see the 49ers offense being able to hang with Mahomes and the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes seems to have that “it” factor. I don’t know what it is but how i feel about not betting against Tom Brady, is why I don’t feel comfortable picking against Mahomes, no matter what defense is in front of him.

PREDICTION : CHIEFS – 31 / 49ERS – 23
